Ex-Straits Times journalist jailed 1.5 years for sex with minor

Former Straits Times journalist Eisen Teo was on Monday sentenced to one and a half years in jail for two charges of having sex and oral sex with an underage girl.
He pleaded guilty to both charges, with a third of him having oral sex with her in a house off Upper Paya Lebar Road between November and December 2011 being taken into consideration in sentencing him.
Teo, who has been married since October 2010, first took interest in the girl in 2011 after he learned she was clinically depressed, suffered from insomnia and was bullied in school.

Pakistani Taliban attack airport in Karachi, 27 dead

Taliban militants disguised as security forces stormed Pakistan's busiest airport on Sunday and at least 27 people were killed in a night-long battle at one of the country's most high-profile targets.
The assault on Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Pakistan's sprawling commercial hub of 18 million people, all but destroys prospects for peace talks between the Taliban and the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who came to power last year promising to find a negotiated solution to years of violence. It also deals a heavy blow to Sharif's efforts to attract more foreign investors.
