 Hong Kong's airlines and airport are on alert after receiving a warning from Taiwan that a woman in mainland China may be planning to board a flight to the Asian financial hub with a bomb.

According to a report in the South China Morning Post, Taiwan's intelligence agency warned that the woman might take a Cathay Pacific Airways or Dragonair flight on Friday or Saturday. The newspaper cited an unnamed source at the island's airport police.

The body of a man found in the holiday resort of Pulau Tioman on Wednesday afternoon has been confirmed as missing Briton Gareth David Huntley, reports Astro Awani on Friday.

The confirmation was made after a DNA sample was taken from the body was found to be a match with the sample given by his mother, Janet Southwell.

Thai police are warning online critics of the military junta that they will "come get you" for posting political views on social media that could incite divisiveness in the polarised country.

A lone gunman armed with a shotgun and knife opened fire in a building at a small university in the US, fatally wounding one person before a student subdued him with pepper spray as he tried to reload, police said.

Several other people jumped on top of the gunman and pinned him down until police officers arrived, police said.

Japan could be the first foreign destination for new Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Japanese media reported Friday, suggesting the trip could happen as early as this month.
