What Hello Kitty craze? Online sales kill in-store McDonald's queues

No queue spotted at the McDonald's outlet at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 at around 8.40am on 28 April 2014.

The craze for Hello Kitty appears to have abated significantly from last year, when irate customers argued fiercely with store managers after a spate of queue-jumping.

Queue lines were empty on the morning of the commencement of plushie sales, with fans who visited various McDonald's outlets around Singapore having no difficulty with procuring their KeroKeroKeroppi kitties.

The underwater hunt for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet will be expanded to include a massive swath of ocean floor that may take up to eight months to thoroughly search, Australia's prime minister Tony Abbott said on Monday.

In the latest development to the search, which so far still has not yielded any positive evidence of the plane, Abbott said officials are now looking to bring in new equipment that can search a larger patch of seabed for it.

The tragedy of the Sewol ferry that sunk off the cost of South Korea has given way to more than 16,000 volunteers who have quietly come forward to provide different types of help to the grieving families of the missing and deceased passengers.

Some are Buddhist monks, some scrub toilets and bathroom floors, while others offer to help the families wash their clothes as they await any news from authorities and rescue teams out searching for their loved ones.
