Mini-sub deployed to scour ocean depths in MH370 hunt

Australia is deploying an autonomous underwater vehicle to scour the seabed of the Indian Ocean for the still-missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, now that its black box signals have gone silent.
At the same time, Joint Agency Coordination Centre head Angus Houston announced that two litres were taken from an oil slick that was found about 5,500m downwind from the search area for testing. The sample will take several days to reach shore, though.

Man arrested for trying to tailgate through Woodlands Checkpoint

A man was arrested at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Sunday afternoon when he tried to evade security by tailgating another car.
This is the third time this year that a breach was attempted, although police and immigration officers were able to arrest him before he drove his car out of the Arrival zone. He was also found without travel documents.

Malaysia's opposition on Monday denounced what it called a government bid to increase the prison term of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in his long-standing controversial sodomy case.
In a statement Monday, N. Surendran, a vice president of Anwar's People's Justice Party, called the case "a frontal assault" on democracy, denouncing the bid for a increased sentence as "selective, vicious and politically motivated".

2015 SEA Games will cost less than YOG: Singapore sports chief

The organisers for Singapore's Southeast Asian (SEA) Games promised on Monday that the 2015 meet will not cost as much as the 2010 Youth Olympic Games.
While the final budget was not specified, Sports Singapore CEO Lim Teck Yin said the upcoming Games will be "cost-effective".
